My Favorite Things

These are a few of my favorite things...

It is such a luxury to have time to work on things that I want to work on! I love to get to work with my hands and most importantly to be creative! It was so much fun to be able to scrapbook with my friends last saturday. I came back feeling refreshed and feeling like I had gotten in touch with who I am, besides just a mother, wife and homemaker. Surely the old me is still in there somewhere!

Another favorite thing for me is to be able to sew and embroider. Thank you Mom and Mrs. Carter for teaching me the dying art of sewing - what a treasure. I am extremely pleased to see quite a few of my friends (yeah Karah and Callie) taking up the skill and many others wanting to give it a try. I would truly love to get back to the Quilting Circles they used to have so many years ago. I guess it was their version of Bunco or Mothers Day Out, except with their kids in tow. They truly created art and a treasure to pass down for generations. David and I have certainly seen and sold our share of priceless and pricy antique quilts; what time and love went into them.

Well, my items are not near as detailed or time consuming, but the motives behind the work is the same. They are an outlet of expression and creativity but most of all, a labor of love. My favorite projects are for those I love around me. I am filled with anticipation waiting for the recipient to open the handmade item. I hope that they will be blessed and loved by the thought and time put into the gift. Below are a sample of some of the projects I have done, mostly for gifts.

Bon, you are a wonderful artist! I enjoyed seeing your creations--and stand in awe of your skill in putting it all together.

About those quilting parties of yore...My mom and grandmother and an aunt who lived up the lane would always put up a quilting frame at our house during the winter. They would spend many afternoons sitting around it, sewing and enjoying each other's company. I was a very young child then, and I loved playing with my dolls underneath the quilt, sitting at their feet and listening to them visit! Seems like yesterday...

Bonny, you are so talented and I too want to learn to sew! I didn't know you made all the kiddos those adorable shirts for Christmas, they are amazing. All of your work is beautiful and I know each person who receives your gift treasures it more b/c it was a labor of love and time. Hope you are doing well! The boys are precious as always! Blessings

Oh, Bonny, I'm so glad you enjoyed your Saturday evening!! I enjoyed it, too, cause I just love my front room full of ladies doing something they love...sometimes my business doesn't feel as much like a business as it does a ministry for mommies!
You are so amazingly talented with your hands...I just wish I could do the things you do with needle and thread!
