Take a Hike IKE!!!

Well, we survived Ike! There was some damage, but thankfully we are all safe!

Steve's storage lockers got hit pretty bad. Two buildings are pretty much destroyed, in fact, when we went to see them Ben said "car wash!" That pretty much sums it up!

Steve and Nancy had several big trees down, one of which hit the back porch, but luckily it did not fall in. We saw the huge tree in the front fall, David actually got it on video. The wind was really high for about 8 hours with gusts that were really strong.

The roof fell in at the house next door when a tree fell on it. Steve was already working hard to prevent anymore water damage.

The building gutted was the old Racquet Club, now the Harmony Christian School. It was completely gone- quite a sight.

We of course, had to sneak in a few pics of the kids. Ben was a bit anxious during the storm and slept 14 hours straight the next night. He kept taking about the big storm and the tree falling down. He also wanted his hammer to fix PaPa's house.

The camera can't quite capture the full extent of the damage - it really looks like a bomb went off!

Our house did not sustain any major damage. There are some trees down, but none on the house thankfully. There is some siding off the back of the house and still no electricity, so Steve and Nancy are so graciously hosting us at the present time. We are not very hopeful as to when our power may come back on - we counted 6 places on our road that there were power lines down from fallen trees! 95% of Lufkin was out of electricity, but thanks to the entrepreneurship of Mark Hicks, most of the town does have a generator!!

We are all very thankful to be safe and continue to remember those who were not as fortunant as us.
